Madrid Travel Guide: Velázquez Palace - Palacio de Velázquez


Built by Ricardo Velázquez for a mining exhibition in 1883, this pretty brick and tile building amid the trees of the Retiro is topped by large iron and glass vaults. Another Reina Sofía annexe, its galleries are wonderfully airy, and host very good temporary shows, including a recent one by Julian Schnabel. Contemporary dance has also featured recently.
